a good realtor

Make sure when you buy and sell that you have the best realtor you can find. We have used Mike Sward from Edina Realty twice. We used him to sell our house in Minneapolis when we moved to CO and again to buy our new house in St. Louis Park. When we sold our house in Minneapolis the people who bought it brought in an offer and he said "are you sure that you want me to present this to the sellers? they are going to look at this and refuse to sell you" They came back with a full-price offer.

When we started looking for houses here, we immediately called him. He hand-selected some houses for us and we picked some. He wasn't afraid to tell us not to buy a few that we really liked. He's made all of his $$$ in real estate and now lives in a mansion on Cedar Lake. When we put an offer on 2 houses he sat down with the other realtors and the sellers and met them in person and presented the offer. He won't just fax over an offer and see where it goes. He feels like he can meet with the sellers and "convince" them that the offer that we are making is the right offer. I wouldn't want to be the seller and have him present an offer to me. I consider myself a pretty savvy seller, but he would totally kick my ass. The place that we just bought, had dropped in price by $125k and were now getting a ton of traffic and interest in it. He took us to it and said this is the house for you. The area is close to where he lives and he has bought and sold a ton of houses in the neighborhood. Even after the $125K price drop he was able to "convince" the seller that they needed to drop another $30k.. They took it. He told us that if you don't buy this house, I will as an investment. He told the other realtor that as well after they accepted our offer. So, we feel like we are really getting into a great property.

Are you kidding me???? After I stopped rolling with laughter, I would have found another realtor and come back later. In the end, the only asset a salesperson has is his credibility. If an agent is going to tell you ridiculous stories to get a commission... it really calls into question just what he'd do to get a sale.

On the upside... congrats on the house... I voted for Grandma. You are 1-place-to-live ahead of me at this point.
 
dude...I'm in marketing. I know the difference between sales and marketing...

you don't make top MN realtor in the state by doing whatever to get a sale.
 
Mike Seward scams the elderly into selling homes for low prices. He is a terrible person and made all his money to build that huge ugly thing he calls a mansion. He should be jailed for what he has done. No one should trust him.
